Alaskan Brown/Grizzly Bear Hunts
![]() |
The Brown/Grizzly Bear season generally runs from about
April 15th through mid-May and from September 10th through mid- October or November
depending on the hunting Unit.
Almost all of Alaska is experiencing an explosion of bears. With an
overabundance of bears, the chances of taking home a 8 1/2 ft to 10 ft
brown bear are excellent. Interior grizzly bears are smaller (but some
believe tougher) ranging from 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 ft squared. Some of our recommended
registered guides have taken brown bears in excess of 10 ft. Needless
to say, no matter the size, these hunts are truly exciting. Some of our
recommended bears camps are in SouthWest Alaska, although we also recommend
hunts on Kodiak Island and elsewhere. Prices (1 X 1, Guided) : Kodiak Island-Brown Bear -$15,000 to $25,000. See more information >>>

Alaskan Moose Hunts
| The moose season in general runs from as early as the 1st
of September until as late as the 20th of September, depending on the hunting
unit. Legal horn size varies between units, but has been for the most part
a 50 inch spread or 4 brow tines.
With this restriction in force for the past several years, we have started to see a large number of bulls in the 60 + inches class. This restriction, combined with the mild winters has resulted in excellent survival among the older bulls, which should give registered guides outstanding trophy moose hunting for the upcoming seasons. Price Range: $11,500 to $14,000 (Fully Guided) |

Barren Ground Caribou
![]() |
Caribou hunting runs generally from about
the 25th of August to the 20th of September in most units. The latest herd census indicates
that the Mulchatna Caribou herd now exceeds 60,000 animals and is stable.
However, other areas are now producing better bulls.

It is possible to see several thousand Caribou in one day in some areas of Alaska! The chance of taking a record book animal is excellent, if you can control the desire to shoot the first big bull you see. Price Range: $4,500 - $7,500 (Fully Guided) |
Transportation and Camp Locations
Most hunts start in a remote village which is accessed through either Anchorage or Fairbanks by small commuter plane. From the village, generally you will be transported into the field where your base camp is located by bush plane. Your guide or transporter will assist you in making all necessary travel arrangements if you like. Accomodations vary from lodges and rustic cabins to base tent camps consisting of wall tents, outdoor showers, and hearty food. Spike camps in even more remote areas are often employed to get you even closer to record book animals.
Transportation to sheep or spring bear camp is often by Supercub
.
Some people like to do unguided, fly-in, drop off hunts, or unguided raft/float hunts. These are less expensive than guided hunts but the success rate, while frequently good, is not nearly as great as with fully guided hunts. Brown bear, dall sheep and goat hunts do require non-residents to use a registered guide by law.
